About

Broaddaylight, formed in 2004, is James Eakins (guitar, synths, and electronics), Henry Bennett (guitar) and Sarah Eakins (vocals).

Inspired by artists Robin Guthrie, Brian Eno, Robert Smith, and Slowdive, they set to work on their debut the bell jar ep (independent release, 2005) looking to create a vertical colored world of sound.

After a handful of shows the band started receiving airplay around the world and gained a cult following. Wanting to take their sound in a more electronic direction, they started work on their album stars out which was left unfinished for some time while James and Sarah Eakins moved south to Orange County, California and Guitarist Henry Bennett moved to Texas.

The trio reunited in late 2011 to finish and release their second independent album, stars out, and at the end of the year began work on their next album. On this new album, the band reunites with Robin Guthrie, who mastered their first two releases. After the band opened for Robin in 2005 on his “Lumière Tour”, the four formed a relationship that can be heard and felt throughout their style and sound.

In 2013 they were signed to Saint Marie Records and released their full-length album anniversaries:reunions on April 2, 2013. Subsequently the band has released singles on the label’s yearly compilation albums Static Waves 2 and Static Waves 3, with a new single to be released in November 2015.
